In an effort to revitalize the neighborhood and provide places of recreation for the people, especially the children, the Peoples' Municipality in al-Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood has launched a project to establish a park in al-Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood.

The peoples' Municipality in al-Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood of Aleppo began the project of establishing the first park in the neighborhood on 5 November 2014 by converting part of the old vegetable market located in the eastern part of the neighborhood to a small park on an area of ​​150 meters and 75 meters wide.

The park project was established as a result of the destruction caused by the mercenaries' war against the neighborhood and the siege that has lasted for many years, the neighborhood was systematically marginalized by the regime because most of its population are Kurd.

The municipality has started to secure the park's requirements, from settling the garden floor, cultivating its areas for cultivation and tiling the other areas, planting tree species, creating water fountains, setting seats and lighting them with different lights.

The park is divided into several sections, a special section for games and children's hammocks, a cafeteria, a section for the accommodation of some types of birds such as duck and pigeon in cages, and a family section.

After the project ended, the park officially opened on April 4, the day of the birth of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, It was named "Aren Mirkan, who was martyred in the resistance of Kobani and became the symbol of the free woman

The municipality appointed 3 workers in the park to supervise and care for them in terms of pruning trees, caring for them and keeping them clean, and the community protection forces provide protection and security to its visitors.

Due to the attacks on the neighborhood, the park was also not destroyed, It was destroyed and damaged, however, the municipality restored it in order to restore life and smile to the people again after years of war.

In spite of its small size, the park took on importance among the people and they always came to them. During the 4 years, the neighborhood's residents and neighboring neighborhoods were very popular with all the components, especially in summer, to relieve themselves of daily stress.

"I used to come to the park daily and spend a few hours every morning, it is like a healthy session for me. The air is pure and gives a feeling of comfort. It is also a place to strengthen social relations among the people," said Abdein Tito of al- Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood.

Farid Birm, a member of the municipality and a member of the community protection forces, said they were working in the garden and were trying to preserve its beauty, which has become the only refuge for self-recreation in an area that has been hit by the worst attacks in recent years.
