Communes' formation continues in al-Raqqa

The Women's Committee in the Women's Council in al-Raqqa continues to form the Women's communes in al- Rumaila neighborhood. The Committee formed on Thursday the 7th commune for the women to manage themselves by themselves.

The Women's Committee held a meeting for the women of al- Rumaila neighborhood. The meeting started with holding a minute of silence. The head of the Women's Council in Raqqa Zulikha Abdi explained the concept and work of the commune, and said that the commune is the effective and essential means for women to solve problems.

That was followed by the election of Rujin Mohammed as the head of the commune and Fedda al-Mohammed as its deputy. Five committees were formed, namely the Reconciliation Committee, the Health Committee, the Economics Committee, the Protection Committee, the Training Committee."

Zulikha Abdi, the administrator in Woman Council said, "After four years of oppression and tyranny, we have taken this step to free women from the authoritarian mentality, and for women to run their economy. Through the commune, women would manage themselves."
