Zenobia Women's Gathering rejects  "Constitutional Declaration"

The Council of the Zenobia Women's Gathering has officially rejected the so-called "Constitutional Declaration for the Transitional Phase" in Syria, expressing deep concerns regarding the country’s future.

 In a statement delivered today in front of its headquarters, the Council Member Khadija Al-Abdullah emphasized that "this declaration, issued following an agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Damascus government, fails to reflect Syria’s rich cultural, religious, social, and political diversity."

 The statement further noted that "it excludes numerous components of Syrian society, including Kurds, Druze, Syriacs, Assyrians, and Alawites, from participating in state-building efforts."

 The statement asserted that the "Constitutional Declaration," which is based on what has been termed a "national dialogue," lacked genuine representation of Syria’s diverse components, therefore, it does not reflect the will of the Syrian people striving to establish a democratic Syria. Rather, it contradicts the fundamental principle that sovereignty derives from the people.

 The Zenobia Women's Gathering called for unity in pursuit of a democratic, pluralistic, and decentralized Syrian future while rejecting exclusionary policies that perpetuate the legacy of the previous regime. It also condemned the marginalization of Syrian components’ rights within the declaration.
