Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in Deir ez-Zor holds its semi-annual meeting

The Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in Deir ez-Zor province held its semi-annual meeting on Thursday in the Culture and Enlightenment Council Hall in Al-Ma'amel area.

The meeting was attended by the council members, as well as delegations from women's organizations and councils, and members of the Internal Security Forces in Deir ez-Zor province. It began with holding a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs.

The meeting opened with a reading of Abdullah Ocalan's assessments of women, presented by Khitam al-Hussein; the administrator in the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in Deir ez-Zor province.

After this, Mezgin Ahmed; the advisor to the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in Deir ez-Zor province, gave a comprehensive overview of the current political situation, noting that the political arena is witnessing chaos and contradictions, with major powers and states pursuing policies according to their own interests and ideologies, which negatively impacts the peoples.

She emphasized that these ideologies disregard the interests of the people, prioritizing the consolidation of their own influence.

Mezgin Ahmed also addressed the situation in North and East Syria, noting that "the Autonomous Administration is striving to ensure the success of the March 10th Agreement. However, these efforts are facing obstacles from the Syrian Transitional Government, which is working to obstruct the agreement through its media discourse."

She concluded by emphasizing that "in general, there is no political stability due to the failure of major powers to consider the peoples' demands, driven by prevailing ideologies."

Following the political presentation, the council's organizational report was read. This report reviewed the organizational structure and assessed the council's activities and campaigns. Among the most prominent campaigns organized by the council were those of combating violence against women, which aimed to highlight the suffering of abused women and promote their right to live in dignity.

The council's efforts also included organizing special sessions to read the "Manifesto for Peace and the Democratic Society" by leader Abdullah Ocalan, in addition to holding commune meetings. This reflects the council's commitment to enhancing cultural and organizational awareness among its members.

Then the floor was opened for discussion among the attendees, who emphasized the importance of field visits and the need to intensify them. The meeting concluded with the adoption of several resolutions, including raising the pace of women’s struggle with their struggling voice to raise the voice of truth, justice and equality, working for a Syria that embraces all Syrians without any discrimination, in addition to combating all forms of violence against women, expanding the scope of work inside Syria, empowering women politically and economically to ensure their representation at a rate of 50% in drafting the new Syrian constitution, and organizing special campaigns to protect women’s rights.
