On Monday night into Tuesday, the city of Homs experienced a wave of terror when unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle targeted balconies in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood, specifically on Bayt al-Tawil streets.

The attack resulted in the death of a young woman and injuries to a young man with varying degrees of severity, before the assailants fled in an unknown direction.

These incidents reflect the escalating security vacuum in areas under the control of Syria’s transitional government, where the spread of weapons and chaos heightens civilian fears of expanding sectarian attacks and the toll of innocent victims.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the number of victims of retaliatory and targeted killings across different Syrian regions since the beginning of 2025 has reached 957 people, including 906 men, 30 women, and 21 children.
