The teenager was killed yesterday after a landmine detonated in the area of “Zir al-Mir’ah” in Jabal Shaer, in the eastern countryside of Hama.

The incident is attributed to the widespread presence of landmines and unexploded ordnance left over from the war across various regions of Syria, amid the absence of effective measures to remove and dispose of them.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the number of people killed since the start of 2026 due to explosions of war remnants has risen to 75, including 21 children and 7 women. In addition, 63 people have been injured, among them 39 men, 20 children, and 4 women.
