A young man was abducted from the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood in the city of Homs, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom for his release, in a continuation of the state of security chaos in the interim government-held areas.

A correspondent in Homs reported today that the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood witnessed a kidnapping incident, where an unidentified gang abducted the young man, Ali Badr Deeb, from Bayt al-Tawil Street. He was then secretly transferred to the village of al-Mubarakat in the Hama countryside, where he is being held, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom estimated at $30,000 in exchange for his release.

According to available information, the operation was carried out in an organized manner, amid growing fears among residents over the rising phenomenon of kidnappings in the area, alongside reports of the gang’s previous involvement in similar incidents.

Residents have called on the relevant authorities to intervene urgently to determine the fate of the abducted man, secure his release, and put an end to such crimes that threaten civilian safety.
