Young man Hatem Mohammed Suleiman sustained serious injuries that resulted in the amputation of his right foot after a landmine exploded in the vicinity of Tel al-Laban village in the western countryside of Tell Tamer, while he was heading to the village to check on his home.

According to preliminary information, the blast occurred as the young man approached the village, when a landmine left behind by the war exploded.

The injured man was initially taken to Tell Tamer Hospital, where he received first aid, before being transferred to a hospital in Hasakah to continue treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

The risks posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war persist in several areas of the Tell Tamer countryside, as some residents continue to return to check on their homes and farmland after years of displacement, amid calls for intensified mine-clearance operations and the securing of residential areas.
