Young man from Tal Tamr dies in Mardin, family shocked by body condition

The young man, Yousef Mohammad Al-Kurdi (20 years old), died after suffering an electric shock while working in carpentry in the city of Mardin in Northern Kurdistan yesterday. There have been calls to clarify the circumstances of the accident and what happened later to his body.

According to one of the deceased’s relatives, Yousef suffered an electric shock while working and was taken to Mardin Public Hospital, but he had already passed away before arriving at the hospital.

He added that those accompanying the young man were surprised when they were prevented from entering the hospital or seeing the body for a full 24 hours, without sufficient explanation. Later, the body was handed over to a family member.

After receiving the body, it was transported to his hometown in the village of Tal Hafyan al-Sharqiya, in the countryside of Tal Tamr, northern Syria. His family quickly took the body to Al-Khabour Hospital in the city so that a forensic doctor could examine it and verify the cause of death and the procedures carried out inside the Turkish hospital.

During the medical examination, it was found — according to the family — that the body had undergone a surgical opening, with internal organs removed, then filled with cotton and stitched closed. This caused great shock to his relatives and raised anger and questions about why such procedures were carried out without the family’s knowledge or prior consent.

Yousef Mohammad Al-Kurdi was from the village of Tal Hafyan in the eastern countryside of Tal Tamr and had been working in Turkey to support his family.
