Yazidi home returns young woman, Kofan, to her family

The young Yazidi woman, Kofan Kharto, returned to her family, after being liberated by the Women’s Protection Units from al- Hol camp.

The Yazidi House in Jazira Canton handed over the young Yazidi woman, Kufan Edo Kharto, to her family from the Shengal Province in coordination with the Shengal Council and the Yazidi Women’s Resistance Units (YJŞ), according to what the House published on its official newspaper.

In its publication, the Yazidi House extended its thanks and said: “We reiterate our thanks to the Women’s Protection Units, the Asayish Internal Security Forces, and everyone who contributed to liberating Kofan from the clutches of the terrorist organization and returning her to her families.”

The Women's Protection Units were able to free the young woman, Kofan, who comes from the village of Hardan in Shengal Province, after she was kidnapped by ISIS mercenaries during their attack in August 2014.

The liberation operation took place during the third phase of the “Humanitarian and Security” operation launched by the Internal Security Forces on January 27, in al-Hol camp in Jazira canton.
