Without any change in mentality… Assad agrees to form a new government

Bashar al-Assad issued a decree to form a new ministry, while data indicates that these changes remain formal and useless as a result of the Damascus government's insistence on maintaining the previous exclusionary mentality that rejects any real change in the country, not to mention choosing these ministers according to their loyalty to the ruling authority in Damascus.

In a procedure that Syrians are accustomed to that has not brought them any significant good, Bashar al-Assad issued a decree to form a new ministry headed by Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali.

The new formation also revealed a change in the ministries of foreign affairs (Bassam Sabbagh) and information (Ziad Ghosn), while keeping the interior (Mohammad Khaled al-Rahmoun) and defense (Ali Mahmoud Abbas).

The data indicate that these changes remain formal and useless and are governed by several factors, including that any decision (whether by ministers or the prime minister) is linked to Bashar al-Assad on the one hand, and on the other hand the insistence of the Damascus government to maintain the previous exclusionary mentality that rejects any real change in the country, not to mention the selection of these ministers according to their loyalty to the ruling authority in Damascus.

It is worth noting that Syria has not witnessed any real and effective role for any ministry since the sixties of the last century, which has made the Syrian people lose any hope for any change that would serve the country's interests. Rather, their inner voice says that what is happening is nothing more than a process of "delusion."

In a related context, the "Presidency of the Republic" announced today the appointment of the former foreign minister of the Damascus government, Faisal al-Miqdad, as deputy to al-Assad, with the mandate to follow up on the implementation of foreign and media policy as well.
