The organization said that one of its employees was killed as a result of his house being bombed during a series of air strikes in the city of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria, noting that he was responsible for the organization’s water, sanitation and hygiene affairs in the city.

According to the organization’s Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in a post on the X platform, his sudden death is a stark reminder of the ongoing violence and suffering that the Syrian people are enduring, as he put it.
