An employee of the Sweida Water Authority was injured by shrapnel from a shell fired from villages west of the city's countryside, where the Syrian Transitional Government Forces are stationed.

A mortar shell fired by the Syrian Transitional Government Forces landed near Well No. 20 on the Hajj Road west of the city, injuring an employee of the Sweida Water Authority on Sunday dawn, according to an official source at the authority.

The source explained that the shell was fired from western villages in the Sweida countryside, where Syrian Transitional Government Forces are stationed. The employee, Ahmed Abo Saleh, was on duty during the night shift when the shell struck.

The source indicated that a piece of shrapnel penetrated Abo Saleh's chest on the right side, above his lung, and his condition is described as critical, as the shrapnel remains lodged in his chest, according to the latest medical examination. While he is expected to undergo surgery once his condition stabilizes.
