U.S. Congress member Ibrahim Hamadeh demanded that the government of Ahmad Al-Shar'a halt what he described as "barbaric violence" against members of the Druze sect in Syria, calling for tangible steps to protect all citizens and ensure stability.

In an official statement published on his website, Hamadeh emphasized that the ongoing violence against the Druze community "must stop immediately," noting that the United States, under President Donald Trump's administration, had taken "unprecedented steps to ease sanctions and extend cooperation to the Syrian government as part of encouraging real reforms."

Hamadeh added that "the time has come for the Syrian government to turn its words into actions if it is keen on maintaining its legitimacy," stressing the "need to restore the system, protect all citizens, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to lasting peace and stability."

The Republican congressman asserted that building a "new Syria" requires it to reflect its religious and ethnic diversity. He pointed out that the United States wants Syria to succeed but rejects "senseless violence and division" as a path to the future.

Hamadeh concluded his statement by emphasizing that Syria’s future cannot be built on exclusion and violence but rather on pluralism, justice, and genuine reform.
