CENTCOM stated that its forces conducted five airstrikes targeting ISIS locations across various parts of Syria during the period from December 27 to February 2.

In a statement published on its official website, CENTCOM said the operations were carried out in parallel with what it described as “partner forces,” referring to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), “continuing to apply military pressure to ensure the enduring defeat of the terrorist network.”

It explained that the strikes resulted in “the identification and destruction of an ISIS communications site, a vital logistical hub, and weapons storage facilities,” using 50 precision munitions launched from fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The statement quoted CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper as saying: “Striking these targets demonstrates our continued focus and resolve to prevent an ISIS resurgence in Syria,” adding that “working in coordination with coalition forces and partner forces to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS makes the United States, the region, and the world safer.”

The statement also referred to Operation “Eagle Eye,” launched by US forces in response to an attack that targeted them on December 13 in Palmyra, which resulted in the deaths of two U.S. soldiers and a translator.

CENTCOM added that “after nearly two months of targeted operations, more than 50 ISIS members have been neutralized or detained,” confirming “the killing of Bilal Hassan al-Jassem in a precision strike in northwestern Syria on January 16,” describing him as “a field commander linked to the individual responsible for the Palmyra attack.”
