UN delegation visits Tell Tamer to discuss conditions of refugees, IDPs, support for shelters

The co-chairmanship of Tell Tamer City Council received a delegation from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Thursday in a visit aimed at discussing the situation of displaced persons and refugees in the region, as well as reviewing the needs of shelter centers and the services provided to families affected by displacement.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation between both sides to support displaced persons residing in shelter centers and secure their basic needs, in addition to discussing mechanisms to facilitate the voluntary and safe return of families wishing to go back to their areas of origin, ensuring appropriate conditions for stability and reintegration.

The UN delegation also discussed the challenges facing shelter centers in Tell Tamer and the humanitarian and service-related needs required to improve conditions for residents, stressing the importance of continued humanitarian support for displaced and refugee families.

For their part, the co-chairmanship of Tell Tamer City Council emphasized the need to intensify international and humanitarian efforts to support displaced persons and refugees, and improve the services provided to them, contributing to alleviating humanitarian burdens and enhancing prospects for return.

The visit concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continued coordination between local authorities and international organizations to follow up on humanitarian issues and provide necessary support to affected groups.
