The Independent International Commission of Inquiry (COI) on the Syrian Arab Republic has condemned the café bombing in Damascus, stressing that attacks on civilians are prohibited under international law, and calling for those responsible to be held accountable.

The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic, mandated by the UN Human Rights Council, has condemned the bombing that targeted a café in Damascus on 2 July, which left civilians dead and injured.

In a statement posted on the platform “X”, the commission stressed that attacks against civilians and civilian objects are strictly prohibited under international law, calling for those responsible to be held accountable.

It also expressed full solidarity with the victims and their families, emphasizing the importance of protecting civilians and preventing the recurrence of such attacks.

The bombing, which targeted a café near the Palace of Justice in Damascus, rsulted in the killing of 10 civilians and the injury of 21 others.
