The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that two members of the Interim Government’s Internal Security Forces were wounded when unidentified gunmen attacked a security patrol near the Women’s Union building in Raqqa city.

The SOHR suggested that ISIS sleeper cells were likely behind the attack, noting that the incident occurred near the Women’s Union building, where armed assailants opened direct fire on the security patrol before fleeing to an unknown location.

The attack comes amid increasing activity by ISIS cells in areas under the control of the Interim Government, raising concerns over a rise in security attacks in recent weeks.
