The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported today that two people were killed and five others sustained injuries of varying severity following an armed clash in the village of Abu Shanina, in the northern countryside of Raqqa.

The Observatory stated that the incident began with a financial dispute between two parties, which escalated into an armed attack targeting the home of one of the individuals involved. This triggered a gunfight between the two sides, resulting in the aforementioned casualties.

According to the Observatory’s statistics, the number of criminal offenses and homicides recorded across various Syrian regions since the beginning of 2026 has risen to 261 incidents, resulting in the deaths of 289 people—including 230 men, 21 children, and 38 women.
