Statement from the Turkish Parliament Presidency Regarding the Imrali Visit and Meeting with Leader Abdullah Ocalan

The Turkish Parliament Presidency announced this evening that a parliamentary delegation traveled to Imrali Prison and met with Leader Abdullah Ocalan, confirming that the meeting yielded "positive results" related to the peace process and regional de-escalation.

In its statement regarding the visit, the Parliament Presidency said that "the Solidarity, National, and Democratic Brotherhood Committee has held 17 meetings since its establishment on August 5, during which it listened to various parties."

It noted that at its 18th meeting on November 21, the committee voted by a qualified majority in favor of hearing directly from Leader Ocalan in his prison.

Based on the decision, a delegation from the committee traveled on November 24 to the high-security Imrali prison, where a meeting lasting several hours took place.

The statement explained that the delegation listened to detailed explanations from leader Ocalan regarding his February 27 appeal for peace and the building of a democratic society, as well as his vision regarding the Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) declaration of dissolution and the laying down of arms, and his views on the implementation of the March 10 agreement in Syria.

The Turkish Parliament Presidency affirmed that the meeting yielded "positive results" that contribute to strengthening social cohesion, consolidating brotherhood, and advancing regional stability, noting that the committee will continue its work with "determination and perseverance."

The statement concluded by emphasizing that the public will be kept informed of all developments related to the committee's work in the coming period.
