A local source from Girê Spî/Tal Abyad reported that the council issued a decision today mandating the sale of bread in Turkish lira, setting the price of a bundle containing 25 loaves at 15 Turkish lira.

Bread vendors who fail to comply face a fine of 5,000 Turkish lira and legal action.

Since occupying Girê Spî/Tal Abyad in late 2019, Turkey and its allied mercenaries have attempted to impose the Turkish language and currency in the region. However, residents continue to resist using the Turkish occupation's currency.
