Violations against civilians are ongoing six years after the occupation of Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad/Gire Spi. Indiscriminate bombings displaced thousands of its residents to the safe areas under the Autonomous Administration, where they are scattered in the Washokani and Ras al-Ain Camps. Lawyer Mahmoud Jamil, spokesperson for the Ras al-Ain Displaced Persons Committee, explained the details of these violations.

Jamil said that when the displaced people were forced to move to the safe areas under the Autonomous Administration, they left all their homes and properties behind, but they took the documents proving their ownership of their lands, homes, and properties. Now, through Turkish agents, the mercenaries are contacting the displaced residents of Ras al-Ain and its villages in order to force them to sell their homes and properties, but they are holding on tight and refusing to sell.

Mahmoud Jamil explained that, after the failure of its occupation plans, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries have resorted to new tricks and schemes. He said, "We warned our people and educated them about the occupation's policies and its attempts to carry out demographic change in our region. However, they have resorted to a new scheme regarding buying and selling.

This time they are contacting the original inhabitants who remained in Ras al-Ain through community leaders and wanted to gather people to sell their homes and properties, especially the Kurds." However, the displaced residents of Ras al-Ain, and even the residents who stayed there, were not deceived by this scheme. He added that, "According to the information we received, they contacted 10 families to buy their homes and properties for large sums of money, but they still refused to sell."

The homes and properties of the displaced cannot be sold because the documents and the contracts are with them.

He emphasized that the displaced people brought all their documents with them, and therefore what is happening in the region is illegal and illegitimate. All the documents are with the displaced people, and the families of the mercenaries are selling the homes and lands of the displaced among themselves, without any of the displaced people selling their homes. Therefore, there is no legal basis for these sales and purchases. "In the occupied areas, the demographic change process goes on continuously.

Jamil explained that the Turkish occupying state and its mercenaries realize that the displaced people will return to their homes one day, and therefore they are trying to buy their homes and properties to ensure they do not return. By selling their properties, the displaced people become collaborators with the Turkish state and its mercenaries. The fewer Kurds there are in Ras al-Ain and its villages, the easier the demographic change process becomes for them. With this plan, they are trying to legitimize their occupation of Ras al-Ain and continue the demographic change process.

Mahmoud Jamil concluded his statement as follows: "We go around among our people, warning them and raising their awareness. We will never abandon our homes and properties, and we will continue to wait for a safe return, for the right to hope is a legitimate and certain right."
