The rally was organized today in Garkê Legê, in the Jazira, to honor those who lost their lives in the Kobani Prison fire and condemn practices targeting the security and stability of the region. Participants stressed the need to protect the gains achieved through the sacrifices of those killed and build a democratic Syria that guarantees the rights of all its communities.

The rally began at Martyr Khabat Square and passed through the city's main streets, drawing widespread participation from residents. Upon reaching the central market, it turned into a protest rally that began with a minute of silence in honor of the victims.

Aihan Murad then delivered a speech on behalf of the Popular Initiative in the city, saying, “The rights of Kurds must be officially enshrined in the Syrian Constitution, foremost among them the right to the Kurdish language.” She added that “some people are trying to undermine integration by spreading discord and stirring sectarian tensions.”

Murad also condemned what happened to fighter Sipan, saying, “We will not accept what happened to Martyr Sipan. We will stand by the martyrs of Kobani and follow the path of Martyr Sipan, and we demand accountability for anyone seeking to sow chaos.”

She added that Sipan and his comrades “contributed to liberating Syria from ISIS mercenaries,” noting that residents now live in safety thanks to the sacrifices of those killed. She called on people to stand behind their gains and protect them.

She further affirmed that the people of Derik would continue to stand with the people of Kobani, calling for the establishment of a democratic Syria that guarantees the rights of all its communities.

The rally concluded with participants chanting, “Martyrs live forever.”
