Threatening leaflets spark concern in Damascus neighborhoods

Several neighborhoods in Damascus have witnessed the circulation of threatening leaflets over the past few hours, naming individuals and families and prompting concern and unease among local residents.

Sources told the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that paper leaflets containing threatening messages have appeared in several neighborhoods of the Syrian capital, Damascus. The leaflets included the names and photographs of individuals and families, accompanied by warnings urging them to remain inside their homes and suggesting that their personal safety depended on complying with the messages.

According to the sources, the leaflets were found in the neighborhoods of Al-Mujtahid, Qabr Atekah, and Al-Baramkeh. They reportedly contained what were described as serious statements, including direct and indirect threats, prompting concern among residents, particularly as they featured personal information and photographs.

The sources added that the circulation of such leaflets comes at a sensitive time, raising fears that the threats they contain could be translated into actual practices, further heightening tensions among residents in the affected neighborhoods.
