Thousands residents rally in protest against attacks on Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyeh

Thousands of residents from the cities of Girkê Legê, Tel Kocer, and Jel Agha marched in a massive demonstration to condemn the attacks launched by the mercenaries of the Interim Government on the Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyeh, and Bani Zeid neighborhoods of Aleppo, emphasizing their categorical rejection of targeting civilians and residential areas.

The march set off at the Martyr Khebat Square in Girkê Legê and proceeded through the city's main streets, as the participants carried pictures of the martyrs and the wounded, along with banners with "Curse the killers of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh," and "Sheikh Maqsoud, we are with you until death."

Upon reaching the central market, the march turned into a vigil, beginning with holding a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Then, the co-chair of the Girkê Legê City Council, Atef Sabri, said, "The attacks that targeted Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh are not passing, but rather organized attacks and documented massacres that directly targeted civilians and their homes. The indiscriminate shelling and the casualties left reveal the true nature of these attacks, which do not distinguish between children and women, in a blatant attempt to spread terror and break the resilience of the residents."

Atef Sabri emphasized that what happened in the two neighborhoods was a crime by all standards and a blatant violation of all international laws and norms, as residential areas were transformed into open violation arenas. The massacres committed will not be forgotten, and the blood shed will forever witness to the scale of the crimes perpetrated against innocent civilians.

Sabri affirmed, "The struggle and sacrifices of the leader in the Internal Security Forces, martyr Ziyad Halab, and the sacrifices of all the martyrs will remain a beacon for the struggle path. Their blood serves as an incentive to continue defending the dignity and security of society, and the will of the peoples is stronger than all attempts of oppression and intimidation."

For her part, Dalal al-Shibli, the member of the Kongra Star in the city of Tel Kocer, stated, "The attacks targeting Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh were part of a systematic policy based on killing, siege, and starvation, amid a shameful international silence and deliberate disregard for the suffering of civilians. The continuation of these crimes places the international community before an inescapable responsibility."

Dalal al-Shibli added, "In light of these massacres, the meaning of the sacrifice made by the Internal Security Forces' leader, the martyr Ziyad Halab, becomes clear. His martyrdom set an example for defending the security and dignity of society. The blood of the martyrs, foremost among them Ziyad Halab, will only increase the people's determination to confront injustice and reject all forms of aggression."

The march concluded with chants of "The martyrs are immortal."
