TEV DEM congratulates Eid al-Fitr

The Democratic Society Movement issued a statement on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, in which it stressed the continuation of the struggle for peace and harmony throughout Syria, which read:

On the occasion of the happy Eid al-Fitr, we extend our congratulations to all components of Syrian society, the Islamic society, all the families of the martyrs, the wounded comrades, and all the freedom fighters on the resistance fronts.

Societies in general attach great importance to religious occasions and holidays due to their human meanings and noble moral and cultural values ​​in different societies, and they have become among the social, economic and cultural customs and traditions that societies adhere to to build a spirit of mutual trust and tolerance among peoples, and our hope is that these holidays will become a means of bringing peace and a spirit of tolerance and resolving all problems through peaceful means to reach peace and harmony towards stability and safety in the region.

However, the political interests of countries have stripped occasions and holidays of their social and moral values, and exploited them for their dirty political ends. The ruling regimes in the region, the first of all the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries, openly exploit events and holidays and turn them into disasters outside the traditions of holidays and practice the ugliest occupation policies that violate rights such as threats and violence against people. We consider the policy of targeting infrastructure and withholding water from millions of people with the aim of starving and killing their lifelines, even on religious holidays, a war crime against humanity, nature and all living creatures and a blatant violation against all moral and humanitarian standards for religious holidays and occasions.

We in the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) renew our congratulations on this blessed occasion, and we hope that peace and harmony will prevail throughout Syria, and in the spirit of hope and optimism, we will continue our struggle to secure the safe return of all displaced Syrians to their homes.”
