On the eighth anniversary of the Turkish state and its mercenaries' occupation of Afrin, the Tell Tamer City Council issued a statement reaffirming its continued rejection of the occupation and its commitment to the right of the displaced residents to return to their homes.

The statement was released during a protest held at the Martyrs' Families Council Park, attended by a number of local residents and representatives from civil society organizations and political parties.

The co-chair of the City Council, Khaled al-Khalaf, pointed out that the occupation continues to cast a shadow over the lives of thousands of residents living in difficult displacement conditions. He emphasized that the violations witnessed in the city, including forced displacement and demographic change, constitute a blatant violation of international laws and conventions.

The statement called on the international community and human rights organizations to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, and work to ensure a safe and dignified return for the displaced. It affirmed the continuation of the struggle by all means to end the occupation and liberate the city, and that the right of return will remain a fundamental demand of the people until it is achieved.
