The continued closure of the road has brought the movement of hundreds of oil transport tankers to a standstill, affecting transportation in the region, while residents continue to gather and hold their protest on the highway.

The protest comes amid residents’ objections to the latest increase in gasoline and diesel prices. Diesel has reached 17,500 Syrian pounds per liter. The impact of the increase extends beyond fuel prices to transportation fares, the prices of basic goods and services, as well as rising agricultural production costs.

The protesters are calling on the relevant authorities to cancel the latest increase and regulate fuel prices, ensuring that they are affordable for local residents. They also called for consideration of the circumstances of farmers and sectors that rely heavily on fuel.

Residents have affirmed that they will continue their protest and remain committed to their demands, calling for measures to reduce the economic and living burdens resulting from rising fuel prices.
