The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that they have reached a comprehensive agreement with the interim government providing for a ceasefire and an understanding on a phased integration of military and administrative forces between the two sides. The agreement also includes the settlement of the civil and educational rights of the Kurdish people and guarantees the return of displaced persons to their areas.

In this context, ANHA agency met with intellectuals in the city of Tal Tamr, in al-Jazira Canton, to hear their views on the agreement. Ridhwan Al-Khalaf, a member of the Union of Intellectuals in Tal Tamr, affirmed that the agreement represents an important opportunity to enhance calm and stability in the region. He noted that some parties are attempting to distort facts and spread chaos in order to obstruct any positive step.

He added: “The past years have proven that the strength of society lies in its solidarity,” calling for the continuation of collective efforts to confront any attempts that could undermine security and civil peace or aim to create internal divisions.

Al-Khalaf concluded by saying: “A people who have given so much to protect the region today possess enough experience and awareness to distinguish truth from attempts at deception. What we need is to further strengthen this awareness and not leave any vacuum that parties seeking to spread chaos could exploit.”

For his part, Kamal Sheikhemous, also a member of the Union of Intellectuals in Tal Tamr, addressed the nature of the current phase, pointing out that it is among the most sensitive stages not because of the agreement itself, but because of attempts by some to sabotage it.

He emphasized that previous experiences have shown that chaos often begins with rumors, and that the best way to confront this is by continuously disseminating accurate information from reliable sources, alongside stressing the importance of dialogue between the relevant institutions and the local population.

Sheikhemous concluded: “The current phase requires heightened vigilance, as attempts to obstruct the agreement rely primarily on spreading rumors and sowing doubt,” underscoring the necessity of maintaining a state of general mobilization and resistance until stability is achieved in the region.
