The Kongra Star denounced the bombing of Mar Elias Church, located in a predominantly Christian neighborhood, emphasizing that any attack on Syria’s Christian community is an assault on the country’s diverse national, ethnic, and religious fabric. It underscored the urgent need to establish transitional justice mechanisms, a modern democratic constitution, and a transitional government that truly reflects Syria’s diversity.

The statement firmly rejected any violation of the rights of any component, warning against the dangers of descending into divisive rhetoric, hate culture, or actions that undermine the region’s shared destiny and the coexistence of its peoples.

Similarly, the Confederation of Democratic Civil Society Organizations in North and East Syria expressed solidarity with the victims’ families, describing the attack as a crime against ethical, humanitarian, and societal values that targets Syria’s pluralistic identity and communal coexistence. It urged unified civil and societal efforts across Syria to combat terrorism and counter all forms of intellectual, religious, and cultural intolerance by promoting awareness, dialogue, and openness to foster a participatory environment rooted in free citizenship, free from exclusion or discrimination. The Confederation also called on the authorities in Damascus to protect civilians, ensure public freedoms, and safeguard civil peace through tangible measures that respect diversity and enable society to shape its future, rather than leaving it vulnerable to chaos and extremism.

Furthermore, the Democratic Islam Conference in North and East Syria condemned the bombing as a “terrorist act” and categorically rejected all forms of violence and extremism, regardless of their source or justification. It affirmed that Syria’s future must be built on peaceful coexistence, respect for all religions and beliefs, and the promotion of brotherhood and love among all components. The Conference stressed that any attack on Syria’s people, regardless of their faith, is an assault on human dignity and the values underpinning a free, pluralistic, and democratic Syria. It called on all national and religious forces to unite against attempts to sow discord.

The Kurdistan Democratic Peace Party also condemned the attack, urging the transitional government to assume its responsibility for ensuring security, stability, and the protection of citizens’ lives and freedoms. It highlighted the persistent threat posed by ISIS, noting the group’s increased activity in recent times, which necessitates continued efforts to combat it with all available means and international support.

The party emphasized that such terrorist acts strike at the core of civil peace and communal coexistence, heightening citizens’ fears about their country’s future, particularly regarding sectarianism and social tensions. It called for serious measures to address this threat and promote national unity, dialogue, and coexistence among all Syrian communities.
