Syria discusses integrating security personnel from Afrin, Aleppo and Shahba

The deputy commander of the Internal Security Forces in Hasakah province, Mahmoud Khalil Ali, discussed during his visit to Damascus a mechanism for integrating former Internal Security Forces personnel from Afrin, Aleppo and Shahba into the Ministry of Interior.

A source close to ANHA agency said that during a visit to Damascus over the past two days, Mahmoud Khalil Ali raised the issue of incorporating personnel from Afrin, Aleppo and Shahba into the Internal Security Forces in their respective areas.

According to the source, the issue was raised following the completion of the integration process announced by Mazloum Abdi in Damascus. The status of former Internal Security Forces personnel in the aforementioned cities and areas was subsequently put on the agenda for discussion, with the aim of determining a mechanism for integrating them into the Ministry of Interior of the transitional government.

The source said the Ministry of Interior had not rejected the request and had expressed its willingness to cooperate in discussing the issue.

The source added that meetings are expected to be held in Afrin in the coming period between Mahmoud Khalil and the Ministry of Interior to discuss a mechanism for integrating the former personnel into the ministry’s Internal Security Forces.
