Suwayda Sees 349 Field Executions Amid Ongoing Conflict

This raises the total death toll to 1,568, resulting from battles, field executions, and Israeli airstrikes. According to the Observatory’s data, among the deceased are 722 individuals from Suwayda, including 166 civilians (56 women and 21 children), 474 members of the Transitional Government’s Ministries of Defense and Public Security, including 40 tribal fighters and one Lebanese armed individual. 

Additionally, 15 members of the Defense and Interior Ministries were killed in Israeli airstrikes, and three others, including a woman, died in an attack targeting the Ministry of Defense building.

Two journalists were also killed while covering the clashes. The number of field executions reached 349, including 19 women and 10 children, in addition to three tribal fighters executed by Druze gunmen.

Suwayda is also experiencing a severe service crisis, with communication, electricity, and internet services cut off since August 4, forcing residents to rely on satellite internet amid a lack of official explanations.

On the same day, the Bosra al-Sham humanitarian crossing was reopened after a 24-hour closure. On the military front, western Suwayda countryside witnessed ceasefire violations, including shelling on the towns of Ara and Ariqa, and a failed advance attempt east of Tal Hadid.

Transitional Government forces targeted the city’s outskirts with mortars and heavy machine guns, coinciding with combing operations by local military forces. A cautious calm returned on the morning of August 5, despite intermittent gunfire in the area.
