The markets of the city of Sarmada in the Idlib countryside witnessed a strike and the closure of shops in protest against the decision to increase customs duties, by the administration of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" in the areas under its control.

After having witnessed the shops increase customs duties, by the administration of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" in the areas under its control. they closed their markets, expressing their resentment.

Activists and social media pioneers in northern Syria circulated a list of prices for some basic materials, before and after the issuance of the new customs tariff in US dollars as follows:

- The price of a ton of cement increased by 17

- The price of a ton of iron increased by 60

- The customs duty for biscuits was 50 and became 300

- The price of a ton of ceramics increased from 25 to 75

- The price of imported heating shells increased by 100 per ton

- The price of a ton of imported flour increased from 2 to 20

- Previously, the customs duty for a ton of gasoline was 30 and today the customs duty for a ton of gasoline is 210

The General Authority for Land and Sea Ports in the administration of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" in Syria issued yesterday, Saturday, a unified customs duties bulletin that applies to all customs offices in land and sea ports and airports, and its provisions are implemented from the date of its issuance in the areas under its control, which was met with popular rejection and discontent.
