Dozens of journalists and activists in Qamishlo organized a solidarity rally today in front of the United Nations office in the Al-Siyaha district. The event saw participation from numerous activists and journalists condemning the violence and killings in Suwayda.

Participants held banners denouncing violence and calling for national unity. Among the slogans displayed were: “Syrian blood spilled by Syrians is forbidden,” and “From Qamishli to Suwayda, peace.”

Lawyer Jowan Muhammad stated: “From Qamishlo to Damascus and Suwayda, we all stand against the machine of killing and exclusion, and against anyone who committed massacres against our people in Suwayda. We say to our people there: we stand with you—with our voices, our pens, our lives, and our youth. This rally will not be the last but the beginning of continuous actions through which we raise our voices against the shameful international silence towards Syrian blood.”

This rally comes amid the recent escalation in Suwayda city, where acts of violence have led to civilian casualties.
