Violations against olive trees continue, as they are cut down for the purpose of trading in firewood. Settlers from Eastern Ghouta, who live on Trinda Road in the occupied city of Afrin, uprooted the trunks of olive trees from fields owned by two citizens named “Nouri Najjar and Haider Sheikh Hassan,” using digging machines.

According to what was reported by the Afrin Post website, the field located behind the Ashrafieh neighborhood had previously been subjected to an unjust cutting and logging process, and thus the uprooted logs were transported to the New Bridge Road for sale.

On December 11, unknown persons cut down 15 pomegranate trees in the village of Ain Dara, near the archaeological hill. The trees are owned by the citizen, “Muhammad Jumaa,” a resident of the village. On December 7, at night, armed men cut down 75 trees, owned by the citizen “Ahmed Omar,” a resident of the village of Tal Hamu, under the pretext that they are state property.

The number of olive trees that have been cut down by the Turkish occupation mercenaries and settlers from their families has reached more than 4,400 olive trees since the beginning of this year, according to media reports.
