A report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) mentioned that amid the escalating security chaos in areas under the control of Damascus, incidents of kidnapping and assaults against civilians from various groups are recurring, raising widespread concern among the residents, especially since some of these incidents ended with the victims being killed amidst the ambiguity surrounding the identity of the perpetrators.

During the past eight days, SOHR indicated that the provinces of Hama, Tartus, Homs, Damascus, Aleppo, and Daraa witnessed horrific incidents, including the abduction of children, women, religious figures, and journalists. In some cases, the bodies of the victims were found dumped in various locations, while the fate of others remains unknown to this day.

In this context, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented 20 kidnapping incidents over the past eight days, four of which ended with the killing of four civilians, including a child, while the fate of several victims remains unknown.

These incidents indicate an escalation in security chaos, amid fears of the spread of organized crime and the absence of deterrence, which have begun to threaten community security across the country.
