Şengal celebrates Newroz

At the beginning of the celebration, the co-chair of the Executive Board of the Autonomous Administration in Şengal, Reham Hassan, delivered a message from the Autonomous Administration in Şengal and the institutions of the Yazidi community in which she congratulated the families of the martyrs and fighters, as well as the Kurdish people and the Yazidi community, and said: “Newroz 2024 is very important and meaningful. There is a saying by the martyr Mazloum Dogan that says, “Resistance is life and submission is betrayal,” and he lit the flame of Newroz in Amed prison with his body. In the person of Mazloum Dogan, Zakia and Rahshan, we remember all the martyrs of Newroz and the revolution with reverence. Just as there were unjust Dahhak in history, the Dahhak mentality still continues today. But just as the mourning Kawa stood against Dahhak and put an end to that oppression and injustice, today, in the spirit of Newroz and the thought of Leader APO, we will end the occupation of the Turkish state and the betrayal of the Barzani family.

With the slogan “Freedom for leader APO, and Autonomous Administration for Şengal,” we will make our union, organization, and resistance stronger and greater. On the other hand, the good news of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement this year is a new sign of success for all freedom lovers. This good news is very important and meaningful for us because the Turkish state attacks all freedom-seeking people with its modern aircraft and technologies. Every strike against the enemy has meaning for us.”

Reham Hassan also focused in her message on the return of the Yazidis to Şengal and continued: “Our people who returned to their land while we celebrate Newroz, this is a response to the enemy who wants to empty Şengal of its people. We send our message here that we will resist until we guarantee the Autonomous Administration of Şengal, and we will prevail over all plans. On this basis, we send our greetings and love to the fighters from the Şengal Mountains and congratulate them on their victories. Their victory is our victory. We dedicate this spirit of Newroz to Commander Apo and the freedom fighters and say, “Long live Leader APO, long live Newroz. Resistance is life and submission is betrayal.”

After the message, the mother of the martyrs and spokeswoman for the Yazidi Women’s Freedom Movement, Reham Hajo, lit the Newroz flame.
