Seminar in Lebanon on Kurdish Language Day's occasion

The Newroz Cultural and Social Association in Lebanon organized a symposium on Friday at its center in Beirut to celebrate the Kurdish Language Day, in which dozens of Kurdish children in Lebanon, along with their families attended, and it was held in a unique cultural and heritage atmosphere that reflected the importance of preserving and promoting the Kurdish language among new generations.

The Symposium began with holding a minute of silence, followed by a speech delivered by the head of the association, Jamal Hassen, who spoke about the significance of Kurdish Language Day and the role of language in preserving the identity and culture of peoples.

He emphasized the importance of teaching children their mother tongue and strengthening their connection to it, as children are the continuation of this language and the bearers of its heritage in the future. He also encouraged the children to be proud of their mother tongue and to preserve it.

Leyla Mohamed; the member of the Kongra Star Coordination in Lebanon, then delivered a speech highlighting the crucial role of women and mothers in teaching children their mother tongue. She stressed that women play a fundamental role in preserving language and heritage, especially in diaspora countries like Lebanon, where the need to uphold the Kurdish language is even more critical to prevent children from forgetting it or its disappearance over time.

The event included artistic performances by the association's artistic group, which performed Kurdish songs for the occasion, including the song "Zamani Kurdi." Furthermore, children and mothers participated by dancing to the tunes of traditional songs, in a scene that reflected the children's joy and their connection to their Kurdish culture and identity. In addition, the children wore traditional Kurdish clothing, which gave the occasion a distinctive heritage atmosphere.
