SDF's Abdi meets U.S. Envoy, CENTCOM chief to discuss stability in Syria, counter-terrorism

The General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, stated that he held discussions with the U.S. Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack , and the Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, on a range of issues aimed at advancing political integration in Syria, preserving its territorial unity, and ensuring the continuity of counter-ISIS efforts.

In a post published on his account on the X platform, Abdi wrote: “It was an honor to welcome U.S. Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack and CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper. We discussed several issues focused on promoting political cohesion in Syria, safeguarding its unity, and fostering a secure environment for all components of the Syrian people, in addition to ensuring the ongoing campaign against ISIS in the region.”

Abdi added that “President Donald Trump and Ambassador Barrack have played a sincere and effective role in supporting the Syrian people in their pursuit of a resolution to the crisis and a better future for Syria and all Syrians.”

He reaffirmed the SDF’s commitment to its principles, emphasizing the goal of a united Syria for all Syrians.

For his part, U.S. Envoy Thomas Barrack expressed his pleasure at visiting North and East Syria and meeting with Abdi, noting that the visit included discussions on “key issues concerning the Syrian situation.”
