SDF warns of repercussions of military escalation on ISIS prisons

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Media Center issued a statement, published on its official website, asserting that ISIS cells are attempting to exploit the escalation of military operations by the Syrian Interim Government to launch attacks targeting prisons holding the mercenaries.

The statement included, "Given the security situation imposed by the attacks of Damascus factions, along with their accompanying military buildups and ongoing threats against areas of North and East Syria, ISIS terrorist cells are attempting to exploit this escalation to launch attacks targeting prisons holding their members.

Our forces are fully prepared and vigilant, and have taken all necessary measures to ensure the security of the prisons and prevent any security breaches. The prisons are currently secure and under complete control. However, the continuation of this situation, coupled with the accompanying military escalation, could destabilize the overall security situation, posing a real threat to the security of the prisons holding ISIS members, and threatening to return the region to square one after years of sacrifices in the fight against terrorism."
