SDF thwarts new ISIS attack  in countryside of Deir ez-Zor

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces announced, through a statement published on the SDF’s official website, that their fighters had repelled a new attack launched by ISIS mercenary cells in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The SDF confirmed: “As part of our mission and responsibility to ensure the security and stability of the regions of North and East Syria, our forces on Thursday foiled a new attempted attack by ISIS terrorist cells on one of our military points in the Hawij Dheeban area, in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.”

The statement added: “Thanks to the vigilance of our fighters and their appropriate measures, the attack attempt was thwarted. The terrorist cell used a motorcycle and opened fire on the military post with Kalashnikov rifles. However, our forces responded with full force and engaged in a clash with the cell, forcing them to flee under heavy gunfire. One member of the attacking cell was injured, while our forces suffered no casualties.”

The Syrian Democratic Forces reaffirmed their commitment to continue pursuing and eliminating ISIS mercenary cells and neutralizing their threat, in order to maintain security and civil peace in North and East Syria.
