SDF renew commitment to political solution, protection of communities

The SDF Military Council held its regular meeting today, with the attendance of all members of the General Command, alongside leaders of the military councils in the region and affiliated institutions.

The meeting reviewed the latest political and military developments in Syria. SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi stressed the continuation of negotiations with Damascus according to the March 10 agreement, highlighting the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and not falling for provocations.

The attendees also discussed the proposed integration into the “Syrian Army,” affirming their readiness for dialogue and coordination with the relevant committees.

Regarding the war against ISIS mercenaries, the meeting noted “an escalation of terrorist operations by ISIS mercenaries in NE Syria,” reiterating the commitment to continue combating the organization and strengthening cooperation with the international coalition, alongside enhancing the protection of detention centers holding its members.

On the domestic front, a general amnesty was decided for those absent from their military posts, with the opening of a process to regularize their status. The council also addressed issues related to improving the efficiency and training of the forces.

In conclusion, the Military Council reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to a political solution as the option that ensures Syria’s stability and protects its people, emphasizing the safeguarding of the rights of all communities in NE Syria within the framework of coexistence, and continuing efforts to combat ISIS with support from international partners to consolidate stability and advance the path toward comprehensive peace in the country.
