SDF: New attack by Transitional Govt. Forces in Deir ez-Zor countryside

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that their military positions in the town of Abu Hamam in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside were targeted by the Transitional Government Forces. The SDF confirmed that it responded to the sources of fire as part of its duty to protect the security of the region and its residents.

The SDF’s Media Center issued a statement today regarding a new attack targeting its military posts in Abu Hamam, describing the action by Transitional Government Forces as “part of a policy of escalation and spreading chaos in the region.”

The statement added that the forces carried out a legitimate response against the sources of fire in accordance with established rules of engagement, in order to safeguard regional security and the safety of local civilians.

It further noted that the Transitional Government Forces continue to shell military positions and civilian homes with rocket-propelled munitions and heavy weapons in a direct and indiscriminate manner, targeting three military points in the town. The forces are also using drones and suicide drones in their attacks, which increases the level of threat faced by peaceful residents.

The SDF reaffirmed that it will continue taking the necessary measures to stop these attacks and protect stability in the region.
