As part of following up on the implementation of the provisions of the agreement signed between the SDF and the Interim Government on January 29th last, the General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, held an expanded meeting today in Hasakah with the Presidential Envoy, Brigadier General Ziad Al-Ayesh, attended by the general command of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), represented by Deputy General Commander Mahmoud Khalil (Siyamend Afrin), according to the official website of the forces.

The discussions focused on mechanisms for the safe return of the people from Afrin, Sere Kaniye/Ras al-Ain, and Girê Spî/Tel Abyad to their homes, and ensuring the provision of appropriate conditions for this return.

The two sides also discussed steps for integrating service and educational institutions to unify efforts, enhance stability and security, and improve the level of services provided to citizens in the region.

In the context of previous prisoner exchange operations, an agreement was reached to clear prisons, with the announcement of the release of a new batch of detainees during the current week within an organized and secure timeframe.

This meeting represents an advanced step towards translating field understandings into concrete measures that serve the public interest and enhance opportunities for lasting stability in the region.
