SDF endorses UN efforts for political progress in Syria

The Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, expressed his support for the recent remarks made by the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, concerning the country’s political future.

Through a statement shared on the "X" platform, Abdi reiterated the SDF’s backing for United Nations initiatives aimed at facilitating a successful political transition.

In his statement, Abdi emphasized that addressing the issues surrounding NE Syria and integrating the SDF into Syria’s national framework requires a comprehensive and strategic approach. This vision, he argued, should lead to a unified Syria that embraces its diversity while ensuring representation for all components and regions.

He further underscored the need for a representative government and an equitable constitution that guarantees the rights of all citizens and fosters justice and equality.

The UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, had previously stressed, on Wednesday, the importance of seeking solutions for the situation in NE Syria.
