SDF Accuses Interim government of six ceasefire violations

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement today regarding ceasefire violations by mercenaries of the Interim Government in the Jazira and Kobani regions. The statement said:

“Despite the ceasefire agreement entering into force, Damascus factions continued their attacks on the Jazira and Kobani regions, in a clear and explicit violation of the agreement’s terms.

The ceasefire went into effect at 8:00 p.m. yesterday. However, those factions carried out a series of attacks after that time, as follows:

08:10 p.m. yesterday:

Damascus factions shelled the town of Zarkan, north of Hasakah, with heavy artillery. The shelling continued for more than an hour.

08:20 p.m. yesterday:

Damascus factions launched an attack using heavy weapons on the village of Tel Baroud, located on the Tal Abyad–Tal Abyad road, south of Hasakah

11:30 a.m. today:

Damascus factions attacked our forces in the vicinity of the city of Sarrin. Our forces repelled the attack and thwarted it.

11:45 a.m. today:

A convoy belonging to Damascus factions attacked our forces in the village of Basel on the Tal Abyad–Tal Abyad road, south of Hasakah.

02:10 p.m. today:

Damascus factions launched a second attack on our forces in the vicinity of the city of Sarrin, south of Kobani. Our forces successfully repelled the attack.

02:45 p.m. today:

Damascus factions shelled the village of Hamdoun, south of Kobani, with heavy weapons, leading to the martyrdom of a woman.

We reaffirm our commitment to the ceasefire agreement and to avoiding escalation. We call on the guarantor parties and the international community to assume their responsibilities and monitor these violations in a way that ensures the protection of civilians and preserves stability in the region.”
