SDC visited Washokani, Serê Kaniyê camps, stressed safe return's right 

On Wednesday, a delegation from the Syrian Democratic Council visited Washokani and Serê Kaniyê camps, which house displaced people from occupied Serê Kaniyê in the countryside of Hasaka city in Jazira canton.

The delegation consisted of the council's co-chair; Mahmoud al-Muslat, the member of the Secretariat Office; Aziz Suleiman, the member of the Public Relations Office; Avin Mohamed, and the member of the Women's Office in Hasaka; Rasha al-Nezal.

The delegation conducted a field tour of the two camps, during which they held direct meetings with the residents to discuss their conditions and needs. The delegation affirmed the council's commitment to their legitimate right to return to their lands and homes. 

During the meetings, Mahmoud al-Muslat confirmed that the issue of the displaced is "a national and emotional issue par excellence," emphasizing that the issue of safe return "cannot be compromised or negotiated, as it is a legitimate right."

He added, "We know the extent of the suffering you are going through, and we feel it too. When we see you, we see dignity and pride, and we will do everything possible to knock on the gates of the United Nations and international organizations to ensure your safe return."

The visit also included a tour of the schools in the two camps, where the delegation met with teaching and administrative staff and listened to their needs and problems, affirming the Syrian Democratic Council's commitment to supporting the educational process.

This visit comes within the framework of the Syrian Democratic Council's monitoring of the conditions of the camps' displaced and conveying their voices to international forums to demand an end to their suffering, and ensure their return to the areas occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries.

In October 2019, the Turkish occupation state launched an attack on the cities of Serê Kaniyê and Girê Spî /Tel Abyad, displacing hundreds of thousands of their residents. In addition, the forcibly displaced persons now live in camps in North and East Syria.

On March 10th of this year, the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, and the head of the transitional government in Damascus, Ahmed al-Sharaa, signed an agreement with several clauses; one stipulating the safe return of the displaced to their areas and their protection; However, Damascus has so far evaded implementing this clause, and the occupied areas remain under the control of mercenaries who practice murder, abuse, and theft against the residents of those areas.
