The Syrian Democratic Council organized a dialogue symposium, at the Syrian Democratic Center in the Austrian capital, Vienna, to discuss developments in the Syrian situation since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, in the presence of a number of the democratic opposition and political figures interested in Syrian affairs, and the co-chair of the advisory office in the Syrian Democratic Council, Riyad Darar, and Qasim Al-Khatib, a member of the Constitutionalism Committee and the negotiating body.

The symposium began with a minute of silence, then the co-chair of the advisory office in the Syrian Democratic Council, Riyad Darar, spoke about the reality of the division that Syria is experiencing, and pointed out that it will not end unless the Syrians agree on one common approach that does not exclude anyone.

Riyad Darar touched on: “The efforts made to activate serious and direct Syrian dialogue between the active forces, and the Syrian Democratic Council’s efforts to achieve this,” noting that the Council hopes that the Conference of Democratic Forces and Personalities will be a comprehensive platform for the Syrian opposition forces.

Darar stressed that: “The Syrian Democratic Council carries the Syrian concern honestly and effectively, and supports all paths and entitlements through which it achieves victories for the sake of unifying Syria.”

Then the discussion was opened for the participants to present their opinions, as they enriched the symposium with their interventions and questions, most of which were about the future of the political process whether; The opposition paths or the formations of the Negotiating Committee and the Constitutional Committee, and the reasons for their faltering, stressing that any path to resolving the crisis will not succeed, except by moving forward with a real political process in which all Syrian parties participate without excluding any party.
