QAMISHLO

As part of the ongoing activities for Elimination of violence against women, the Sara Organization organized a protest in Afrin roundabout in the city of Qamishlo, under the slogan “The occupation is the greatest violence against women and nature.”

Women from the city of Qamishlo, and members of women’s organizations and movements, participated in the event. The participants raised banners reading, “The occupation is the greatest violence against women and nature,” “No to the occupation,” “Women, life, freedom,” and “Women are the source of life.”

After observing a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, the spokeswoman for the Sara Organization, Rasha Darwish, and the organization’s administrator, Arzou Tammo, delivered two speeches in Arabic and Kurdish.

Rasha Darwish explained that the goal of organizing the event is to stand against anti-women practices, especially in the occupied areas of Afrin, Serê Kaniyê, and Girê Spi. She said: “In this event, we emphasize our permanent and ongoing struggle for Elimination of violence against women. We will stand against the practices of the dominant mentality.”

The event concluded by chanting the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom.”

This event comes within the framework of the Sara Organization’s series of activities to combat violence against women, which it launched on November 11, in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which falls on November 25 of each year.
