Russian air strikes on ISIS positions in the Deir ez-Zor desert

Russian warplanes carried out several air strikes, targeting sites where ISIS mercenaries were deployed in the southern desert of Deir ez-Zor, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

 This comes against the backdrop of ISIS mercenaries escalating their attacks in the Syrian desert during the past days, which led to a large number of deaths and injuries to Damascus government forces and groups loyal to them.

Two attacks launched by ISIS mercenaries on soldiers of the Damascus government forces led to the killing of 19 of them and the injury of 19 others.

In the attack that took place in the Athreya desert in the western countryside of Raqqa, the death toll of Damascus government forces and members loyal to it rose to 5, including a lieutenant officer and at least one member of the National Defense Forces, where clashes took place between the two parties, before ISIS mercenaries withdrew towards the depth of the desert.

While the death toll from an ISIS mercenary attack on an overnight bus carrying soldiers of the Damascus government forces in the area of the third station in the Palmyra desert in the eastern countryside of Homs reached 14 people, and more than 19 others were injured with varying injuries, as the wounded were transferred to Palmyra Hospital to receive treatment, amid a state of alert.
